Definition of Molecular Manufacturing
Molecular Manufacturing is a branch of science associated with nanotechnology in which manufacturing of materials take place right from the molecular level. The difference between manufacturing and molecular manufacturing is that the accuracy of work in molecular manufacturing is up to atoms. The machines manufacturing them comprise fine and ultra-small instruments and tools (of the order of Nano meters-10^-9) compared to the less accuracy in traditional manufacturing. The materials manufactured are of the order of Nano meters and can be increased to the desired scale.

There are endless scope and benefits of molecular manufacturing. The majority of the credit goes to the desired outputs and controlling the placement of atoms to the desired location. Almost every walk of life will be benefitted by the development in this field, like weapon and defense, device manufacturing, energy sector, agriculture and healthcare, construction, water treatment and sanitation, etc. Although there are potential threats, the benefits are more widespread. Molecular manufacturing will result in the production of weapons which would be cheaper and more dangerous than the existing ones. The size and weight of weapons will be decreased considerably. When electronic devices would be made using this technology, they would be considerably cheap and more effective. The battery life of the devices would increase and these gadgets would be affordable for all. The size of the processors would be reduced to few millimeters and the system would be more flexible.

The improvements in solar panels would be an asset to the society for there would be better racking system of the solar power and the storage of energy would be to an extent we cannot build presently. The agriculture methods would improve with more water efficient systems and better seeds. Hence, the quality of life would improve.

The construction materials traditionally used would be replaced by the more effective, cheaper, and less bulky ones. The use of vacuum and thermal walls would change the living standards of us. The nets used for insect checking would save millions of lives lost every year.

The use of molecular manufactured filters would make the scarcity of drinking water a matter of past because its development would open the doors to use water which is otherwise unfit to use. Using that by 50% of the world’s population presently suffering from water scarcity would be a boon for the mankind
Healthcare is the sector which is the most important of all and it will also be benefitted the most. Scientists will be manufacturing nano-bots with the size less than blood cells. These will be deployed in the bloodstream to act as an interface to diagnose and monitor the individual’s health status.
