Almost every one of us fantasises to live in a customised house designed with our interests. If living in a lego style home is one’s dream, it can now be achieved in reality. A French architectural firm Multipod Studio has recently published the prototype of a lego style home- PopUp House that can be built within a month.
The prototype released by Multipod Studio is named PopUp House. It is a customisable house to be built from stackable blocks. It is now available to design, order and ready to be built, in less than a month. At present, the designs are available to witness in the pine valleys of Southern France.
Online ordering option is also available for the PopUp House. The estimated cost for the PopUp House ranges between $1,200 and $1,900 per square meter. The cost may vary depending on the quality of materials and amenities. The company sends the building instructions along with a construction team, once the order has been made.
Corentin Thiercelin, co-founder of the Multipod Studio talking about the customisability of the PopUp House has stated, “A PopUp House can be whatever you wish it to be: a small and cozy country lodge, an urban two-story house, or a spacious open office.”
Though the PopUp House resembles the house made with Legos in technical terms, it is a bit different from it. The PopUp House is made from stacked recyclable wooden panels and insulation blocks. These are held together with wood screws.
The construction team can build the PopUp House in just four days with the help of only an electric screwdriver. It can be disassembled as quickly as it can be built.
The prototype measures 1,614 square feet. It features an open layout. It consists of a kitchen, dining area, and terrace connected to the living room. It also includes two bathrooms, an office, master bedroom, and two smaller bedrooms.
At present, the PopUp House is available only in France. Nevertheless, Thiercelin has stated that the company has plans to expand it in the US and the UK. The company is currently engaged in identifying the right architects and home builders who can work closely with the PopUp House. Primarily because they want to ensure that the houses are in line with local building codes.
PopUp House considered to be a part of sustainable architecture movement and is referred to as passive construction. The houses are believed to be well designed, low- cost, energy efficient and time efficient. The PopUp House is airtight and watertight, which means it keeps heat locked in.
